EXPLORATORY TOUR<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Due to its proximity to Bulgaria, Greece has remained an overlooked destination for us. That is why in 2017 we decided to take a big tour of the Greek islands and see the most famous and beautiful Greek beaches. I had also set myself the goal to investigate whether indeed in our southern neighbor we would find somewhere a beach that closely resembles the scenery of the Similan Islands in Thailand, which we had visited a year earlier. The beaches of Similan had crystal blue and clean water, full of tropical fish and white velvety sand on the shore. Above all, the beaches were extremely gently sloping, which made them perfect for a family holiday. And since Greek beaches are quite famous all over the world, I set myself the goal to prove that there is no need to go to the other end of the world just and only to see the same beaches that you can see just half a day's drive away.<\/p>\n

To cut a long story short, I will share the conclusions from my personal research: After touring the 20 most famous beaches located on the islands of Corfu, Lefkada, Cephalonia, and Zakynthos, I did not find an exact match. We saw quite a few WOW beaches with incredible blue and emerald water or with beautiful white and steep cliffs around, but these beaches either had a stony shore or were very steep, which made them extremely unsuitable for children. These are our brief conclusions from our exploratory tour of Greece. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

DAILY BUDGET<\/span><\/h3>\n

And so, let's start from the very beginning\u2026 Since our trip was shaping up to be around 20 days and from a financial point of view, we were faced with the choice of whether to shorten the days and places to visit or rather set ourselves some exact budget that we wouldn't exceed. The budget we set for two adults + two children + a dog was barely 25 euros a day\u2026 And now I can already picture your reaction and your super open, unbelieving eyes. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The truth is that we managed to fit into this budget, as 80% of the time we cooked in the apartment, and the remaining 20% we got something like gyros or sat at a restaurant. We managed to stick to this budget with the caveat that it happened, for example, one day to spend more than the daily budget at the expense of the following day, when the spent amount was less.<\/p>\n
