After the last bus to the cruise be at Neapol. By the way, the next day we were at the hotel in Pompei, a short walk from the city centre, at 7:00 we had to get up early to catch the bus. Then we went to the market. After the market we had a perfect dinner, without any fuss, and with a nice view of the sea from Andrea Bocelli “Time to say goodbay”.
Apartment Disagreements
We picked up our luggage from the cruise terminal at the port of Naples and headed to the pre-booked apartment in the city of Pompeii. Even as we were leaving the terminal, however, I received a message from the apartment that the reservation was canceled! The reason – we had not paid any deposit. Since we didn't have internet while traveling by sea, I hadn't checked the email the previous days and missed the message that if we don't pay within 24 hours, we lose our reservation. In the end, we found ourselves without a reservation and no place to spend the night. At least I didn't lose any money. At the same time we were in Naples - a dirty, noisy and unwelcoming city.
It took me about 1 hour to calm down and have a written conversation with the hotel that canceled the reservation. When I saw that we were not going to agree with him and now he was asking me more money than the amount I had booked, I decided that I would search and was able to find another apartment for the same price, which was again in a good location. The new apartment was called Le Fanciulle di Pompei Suites and you can check it out here.

How to get from the port of Naples to the city of Pompeii?
- From Porta Nolana station, we go up to the dark green line of the so-called Narrow gauge with route Napoli - Scafati - Poggiomarino and we get off at the Pompei stop (North station behind the cathedral).
- from the central station in Naples by normal train to Salerno and get off on Pompeii Station (South Station)
So, with all the luggage, suitcases and backpacks, we reached the nearby metro station to get on the subway to take us to the central railway station, from where we had to then continue by train to the city of Pompeii. Yes, but no! Beam again! We waited for at least an hour in the dark and hot air metro station down underground, as there was a problem with the trains. So, we got through the train to Pompeii. It turned out that the new apartment is located 2 minutes from the train station and 5 minutes from the city center. Perfect location and nice apartment equipped with new furniture and appliances.
We left the luggage, took a short time from the morning stressful emotions and went for a walk around the city.

Pompeii City
It turned out that modern Pompeii is a very pleasant town with a population of just under 24,000 people and is located at the foot of the Vesuvius volcano. We had three nights there and during our stay the city was frantically preparing for an upcoming music festival - there was a stage and art installations and graffiti in different locations. The central part of the town was small, but beautiful, maintained and clean. In the central square, in addition to the cathedral of Pompeii, in which one of the largest organs in Italy is located, there were also flags of various countries, including Bulgaria.
Once we sat down to dinner at the restaurant, which is right in the square in front of the Catholic Church. To be honest, the service was not up to par, as the young waitress literally did not know two words in English, which seemed very strange to us.
Several times during our stay we visited the nearby large supermarket MD S.p.A. The first time we set foot there, there was shock and horror. Not from the high prices, but from the low prices! Probably half of the products cost cheaper than in Bulgaria. For example, if in Bulgaria a liter of fresh milk is BGN 2.50-3.00, then in Pompeii the milk cost 1 euro! The supermarket also offered a variety of goods. There is also a huge mall in Pompeii - Centro Commerciale la Cartiera, where, like every mall, there are plenty of shops and restaurants.
