What it's like to eat green and blue rice prepared in a boat at a floating market, see live Buddhist ritual dances, and eat coconut ice cream are just a small part of the experiences we had during our tour of Southeast Asia.
On the following day, I had organized and paid online for the excursion to the floating market in Damnoen Saduak – Floating Market. For this purpose, we had to get up early and walk a distance of 2 metro stops to go to another hotel, from where we were going to be picked up by mini-vans. Our whole excursion cost us 50 leva per person.
We noticed, while walking to the other hotel, that even at 5:30 in the morning there are people selling food on the street or even clothes.
And so, we got on the mini-van that was going to take us to the town of Damnoen Saduak. We traveled for about an hour and a half while passing through various fields and plantations.

Upon arriving, we were already late – the town was not full, but overflowing with tourists.
We had about 2 hours for a walk on our own. Unfortunately, there were no free boats left, so we just watched from the sidelines.
There were so many tourist boats, as well as those selling food or souvenirs, that passing each other with the boats was almost a mission impossible. We got ourselves a set of differently colored rice – green, blue, and white rice with a mango garnish. It turned out to be an unexpectedly delicious dish.

The hygiene everywhere, however, was at a very low level. Local vendors threw leftovers from plates into the river, and I don't even want to know how exactly they rinse the plates so they can be reused. Children were actively involved in helping their parents.
After our two hours passed, we got on a boat and went through the whole surroundings. We saw some plantations and very, very poor houses.

So colorful, noisy, picturesque, and interesting everything was everywhere that I allowed myself to snap away with the camera. That's why a huge amount of photos piled up, which now I wonder how to insert into the blog so that everyone likes them 🙂
This floating market in the town of Damnoen Saduak is not the only one of its kind. In the past, floating markets were one of the main places for trade, so in other places close to Bangkok, similar floating markets can be found, but it is considered that the one we visited is the largest with the most boats and, unfortunately, with excessively many tourists.
After we returned from the excursion, in Bangkok we went to Lumpini Park and near it there was an open-air shrine at a large intersection. It was quite lively. There were religious chants, dances, and many worshippers. It turned out that a terrorist attack had taken place near this place a few years ago.
On the
last day of our stay in Bangkok, we decided to visit the famous weekend market of Chatuchak. This is the largest open-air market in Bangkok and one of the main attractions for tourists.
There were a large number of shops, even though they didn't offer goods at such low prices as I expected. From there we bought coconut ice cream in a coconut shell and it was mmm very, extremely delicious and I recommend it to everyone who has set their mind to go there. Also from there we bought a gift for our daughter as a souvenir from the journey of mom and dad.
We spent the evening again in the center of Bangkok as in Lumpini Park there was free aerobics, which I joined, but decided not to show you pictures so you wouldn't laugh at me 🙂
